About Ms. Paxton
I am the oldest in my family with two younger brothers. Interestingly, I'm the only granddaughter on both sides of my family. Therefore, I am used to boys. I got married in 2009 and gained many more siblings since my husband has ten brothers and sisters. I am a vegetarian and animal lover. I have a cat named Biscuit and a dog named Penny who is a Keeshond. The most recent addition to our family is a wonderful boy named Silas born February 16, 2107.
When people ask me why I wanted to be a teacher, I tell them a small part of my life story. Soon after I completed a Bachelor's degree in Economics at the University of Utah, I decided that the financial world doesn't match my personal values. I saw the kids from my elementary school struggling to make ends meet while I was in the process of helping already wealthy people become richer. I knew that I needed to help everyone in my community improve their lives and, therefore, went back to school for a second Bachelor's degree in English Education.
I believe that every student deserves a quality education. I expect students to do their best work and in return I will do my best to guide them as we learn together. I respect where students are coming from and realize that everyone has valuable experiences to contribute. If there is ever a time when there is a misunderstanding, please come talk to me. I am here to learn from you in addition to teaching you.
If there is anything specific that I can do to help you succeed, please let me know!
